CEIMH was funded as one of the 74 Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Centres of Excellence in Teaching and Learning in 2005.  To achieve our aim we needed to design a space which was welcoming and accessible to our partners, inside and outside of the University.  A space that inspired innovation in working and promoted mental health and wellbeing.  CEIMH's space designed by academics, service users and carers, provided a home for CEIMH until November 2010 when the HEFCE funding came to an end.

To learn more about how this unique space was created see the introductory video and building design philosophy. The launch video and aims and objectives provide the background of CEIMH's direction during its first five years.  At the 'Celebrating CEIMH' event, people shared their reflections on CEIMH's achievements.

See CEIMH team for information about the staff mix.

The following examples show the way in which CEIMH's space was used for projects and events:

Our three evaluations, Creating Spaces for Change, Sustaining Spaces for Change and Embedding Spaces for Change, report on CEIMH's work.  Please see also the service user experiences research report, 'CEIMH Makes you Strong'.
